Pete Canter (double bass) & Philip Clouts (piano)
Superb dinner jazz with two leading lights of the South West jazz scene. Both are band leaders in their own right and composers of original jazz music. They are well known across the region and further afield in the U.K. and often work together. Pete Canter is perhaps most well known as a fine saxophone player but here plays double bass, an instrument at which he is also very accomplished. Born in Cape Town, excellent pianist Philip Clouts plays music steeped in township and world music influences. Tonight's laid back dinner jazz will draw on familiar swing and latin jazz standards to create a relaxed and entertaining evening of superb music.

Sadie Horler returns by popular demand
With her haunting vocals, Sadie performs with warmth and authenticity, captivating her audience with her engaging but unaffected presence. Her heartfelt lyrics are inspired by events and people around her with every song telling a compelling story you do not want to miss.
“Phenomenal... One of the finest young female musicians we have discovered." "Sadie's new single 'Game Over' is our favourite of hers yet." BBC Introducing MENU STYLE: SUMMER SHARING BOARDS & SALADS READ MORE ABOUT SADIE
Setting the foundations of her musical journey by busking on the streets of Exeter, Devon at age 14, Sadie’s hard work and dedication to music has paid off and she has established herself as a firm favourite on the South West music scene.
Moving to Brighton in 2019 to study at the University of Brighton, Sadie Horler has had a huge success by winning the first She Shore competition at the award winning venue Ropetackle in West Sussex. Sadie’s latest release ‘Game Over’ was featured on Mahongany’s ‘Chilled Acoustic’ compilation on YouTube attracting over 150,000 views. Her 2019 single ‘Washed up Mermaid’ was played numerous times on BBC Radio 6 by Tom Robinson after being chosen as a ‘fresh fave’ on ‘Fresh on the Net’. During her relatively short musical career Sadie has performed at a multitude of festivals such as Boardmasters, Wonderfields, Beautiful Days, and HowTheLightGetsIn, plus many more. Her mesmerising voice has not gone unnoticed within the industry with Universal Studios jumping at the chance to use her vocals for American fantasy television series ‘Emerald City’ and Heart FM commissioning her for primetime commercials. With many of her self-penned songs being broadcast on their show and three ‘Uploads of the Week’, BBC Introducing in Devon and Cornwall are huge supporters of Sadie’s music. They have invited her to their Plymouth studio to play live in session and to the BBC Introducing Festival Stage. She was also chosen to play on Radio 1’s closing showcase at their academy when the R1 Big Weekend came to Exeter in 2016. "If there’s a vocalist out there with a voice more intimate, humble and heartfelt, then I can’t remember their name right now because I’m slowly slipping into a spell cast by this bewitching West country talent.” Listen with Monger “Savvy. Her level-headed approach, boho charm and velvet vocals are an impressive combination. Our prediction? A sparkling success.” Kathryn Clarke-Mcleod, Western Morning |

The happenings of recent years have provided time to dwell on what is important. A lifetime of travel and cultural inclusion is absorbed in our offering: sensitively sourced produce; often local, organic and fairtrade coupled with a keen eye on sustainability and personal choice. Our menu reflects these values - our vibe providing food for the soul, our kitchen providing food to delight. Since taking over Brook Gallery in 2007, we have embraced a journey of discovery, anticipation and fulfilment, through the medium of those that we have been fortunate enough to work with, represent and support… friends and customers alike. Fifteen years later, we find ourselves embarking on our brand new adventure, bringing together a fantastic team of talented associates - people who care… Our quarterly gallery hangs will be extended through the gallery and Brook Kitchen with lots of opportunity to explore the themes through associated media to hand in both venues. We aim to challenge and enlighten, inspire and satisfy! We can’t wait to welcome you to the Brook family of culture, creativity and conversation! |
